Cornell Cooperative Extension welcomes volunteers to participate in a citizen science project: an ongoing BioBlitz in the Siuslaw Model Forest.
A BioBlitz is a communal citizen-science effort to record as many species within a designated location and time period as possible. We got started at the kick-off event on October 23rd, 2021 – now we invite you to join us and local experts to record more observations at the BioBlitz EXTREME event on Saturday, September 17, 2022!
Experts will lead teams on a walk into the forest to collect data using iNaturalist to continue to build our dataset on the Siuslaw Model Forest. By identifying and recording as many species as possible, we can build an overall species list and add to other research happening in the forest.
Everyone is welcome to participate in this community-powered citizen science project! Please dress appropriately for an outdoor, woodland walk.
Sturdy shoes, tick protection and water are recommended.
