The importance of the natural world to human health has long been recognized. In the 1980s the Japanese coined a term for it – shinrin-yoku – which means taking in the forest atmosphere during a leisurely walk. Forest Bathing is using the medicine of the forest to reduce stress and support healing and wellness.
Join us as we take a fall walk in the Siuslaw Model Forest to practice forest bathing! We will slow down and notice – consciously taking in the sights, sounds, and smells of the forest and connecting with its healing powers. We’ll make a few stops along the way to engage our senses, deepen connections with the natural world, relax and take it all in!
No advance preparation is needed for forest bathing. There’s no right or wrong way to do it and it’s great for all ages; just come and be yourself. Everyone is welcome in the forest.
Please dress appropriately for an outdoor, woodland walk. Sturdy shoes, tick protection and water are recommended for this fun interactive event!
